Over time, this disruption results in the characteristic pattern of male pattern baldness, starting with a receding hairline and thinning at the crown. Reversibility of DHT-Induced Hair Loss: Once hair follicles have undergone significant shrinkage, it becomes challenging for them to return to their original size and produce thick, healthy hair. Therefore, prevention and early intervention are crucial when addressing DHT-related hair loss. Treatment Strategies: Medications: Finasteride and dutasteride are medications that inhibit 5-alpha-reductase, reducing the conversion of testosterone to DHT. These drugs have shown efficacy in slowing or halting the progression of male pattern baldness. Topical Minoxidil: Minoxidil, a topical solution, is known to stimulate blood flow to the scalp and promote hair regrowth.
